Apologies for the lack of posts on here, but, as the title suggests, life has been a bit frantic. So, here are a few of the things that have been happening in the world of RaggedyAnnie ! This little monster seems to have taken up rather a lot of my time ! She is gorgeous, but extremely giddy and demands a lot of attention. Love her though ! I have run a number of sessions on Boro/Sashiko/Kantha piecing and embroidery. It’s a lovely, free way of working, and quite addictive. I am running another day on Sun 12th Aug. I have started running monthly ‘Morsbags’ days – ‘Keep fabric out of landfill and plastic out of the ocean’ – Google it ! These sessions are on the 3rd Weds of the month at my studio, 10-00 – 3-00 (next one is tomorrow, 16th May), no charge, just donation towards tea/coffee. I am also running ‘Crafternoon Tea’ sessions, 1st Weds of the month 12-30 – 3-30 £5 (next one is Weds 6th June). Bring something you’re working on and enjoy an afternoon of stitching, chatting, tea and cake ! No need to book for either of these events. I ran a day course at The Piece Hall in Halifax where we made a lovely selection of hand-made brooches. I held a day for two ladies making ‘Memory Quilts’. This is Lindsay’s work in progress. Photo’s were transferred to fabric, then incorporated in a wall hanging using lovely sepia coloured fabrics and stitch. I am running this as a day course on Sun 7th October, start your own memory hanging or book. A couple of girls who visit regularly wanted to make ‘Stitch Sampler Books’. Jackie and Max made a great start on their books on this day course. From next month I am starting to run a ‘Stitch a Month’ course – this is a half-day course once a month where you can enjoy a few hours of hand stitching. We will explore a different stitch each month, working towards making your own book of stitched samples. It will be on the 4th Weds of the month, 1-00 – 4-00, £15, all materials included. I also held a ‘Crafty Hen Party’ for Emma Williams who was about to get married and also take the leading role in ‘An Officer and a Gentleman’. She and her guests all made themselves a bag before going out for afternoon tea ! I held another day at The Piece Hall, rag rug hearts for Valentine’s Day this time. Rag rugging with the Sowood WI ‘Babes in the Wood’. More Boro/Sashiko/Kantha, plus indulging my penchant for Suffolk Puffs ! More spending time with my son and my dog ! I have held several Goldwork courses, my favourite thing to do. This beautiful piece of work is by Christine from Haworth. My next Goldwork day is Sun 19th Aug, suitable both for beginners and those with more experience. I have been busy with the Piecemakers, at our weekly sessions plus outreach days at Ogden Water and Shibden Hall. We now have a website www.Piecemakers.co.uk. Have a look ! Had a fabulous day course on ‘Stitched Postcards’, some lovely pieces of work were produced ! I got a bit star-struck meeting Sally Wainwright – just about to start filming ‘Gentleman Jack’ at Shibden. I helped Kev run some of his excellent art courses at the studio, and photographed some of his ‘rock art’ in Whitby. We all enjoyed Beckie’s baking !! I love teaching our younger students to stitch and enjoy working with textiles ! So ….. what else ? Creative Goldwork, Wool and Felt Applique ( another day course on this on Sun 27th May). Making some brooches which are about to go in my Etsy shop. Working on our ‘Ogham’ project with the Piecemakers. and at Shibden Hall. And finally …. managing to relax a bit at Harlow Carr, Harrogate, and out on the moors with a couple of my best friends !
